Sorry, I've neglected you...

I know, I know...you haven't heard from me in a little while. Should I tell you what I've been up to?

Well - firstly I was working on a pattern to be published in the Winter Issue of Interweave Crochet. It's a felted crochet bag, but it's a bit special. I do hope you'll like it.

I also rushed to enter a contest in Crochet! Magazine. You'll never guess... yes - I WON! I won a yarn gift basket worth $100 plus $100.

I had a really lucky time with my felted crochet bags this summer, as I joined a Knit-Along/Crochet-Along and, yes...I WON the 'grand prize' there too - yes - for a 'felted crochet bag'. This one was an online get-together where you had to just post pictures and descriptions of your entries, then the entrants got to vote at the end for their favorite.

The Grand Prize included a set of notecards, a beaded cuff bracelet, Charmed Knits book, a Flip book by Annie Modesitt, stitch markers and a skein of yarn. There were other random prizes too - more yarns, hand dyed & hand spun, sock yarn, stitch markers, etc., etc. It was worth entering to just join in and see what others were working on.

If you'd like to check out what we were up to, it was SummerKalCal.

I've also been working on a book submission. It's now being checked out by a Publisher, so I'll keep you posted as to whether you can expect to see my book in the stores in the not-too-distant future.

New Free Pattern

Just as a special treat...I haven't put out a new free pattern in a while, so I thought I'd give you a chance to try out a new scarf. I call it the "Skeleton Scarf", as it just reminds me of bones. Check it out and see what you think.

Holiday KalCal

As I had so much fun and unexpected success with the SummerKalCal, I wanted to let you know about a HolidayKalCal organized by the same people - Marly of Yarn Thing and Sharon of She-Knits.

Together they've worked to arrange this Knit-Along/Crochet-Along for anyone interested in listing and working on their holiday projects, with a chance to win prizes thrown in for good measure.

There's a page listing prizes offered, and there's an opportunity for anyone who'd like to contribute a prize to get some free advertising by being mentioned on both Marly and Sharons' podcasts. Each podcast boasts at least 1000 downloads per cast. A great opportunity to have any yarn related business advertised to an interested audience.

At present, I believe there are around 140 people signed up from all over the globe. The idea is to list your Holiday projects, and post pictures of your completed ones. Any item is allowed as long as it has been made as a gift and is not "adult" in nature.

Here's the Holiday KalCal info. Some have posted entries already. Now that's what I call organized! If you have a list of projects to be completed for the Festive Season, then it's worth checking it out as a means to motivate yourself to get it all done.
