Ripple Hat Pattern

Ripple Hat Pattern Bet you can't resist this great ripple hat pattern. So cute and feminine, but cosy and warm too. An excellent choice for the coming season.

All you need is 2oz of worsted weight yarn and a size I/9 5.5mm hook, and some time of course. Not too much though, as it does work up really quickly.

The gauge is 16sts x 6 rows = 4 inches (over ripple pattern). The ripple pattern is a multiple of 10sts.

This ripple hat pattern works out at 19 inches circumference, but will fit up to a size 22 inch head. It is worked from bottom to top.

You will need to know... chain, single crochet and double crochet.

Abbreviations

  • ch - chain
  • dc - double crochet
  • dc(2)tog - double crochet (2,3,5,6) together
  • rep- repeat
  • sc - single crochet
  • sl st - slip stitch
  • yo - yarn over

How to dc2tog - double crochet 2 together...

Yo, hook into first stitch, yo, pull through to front, yo, pull hook through 2 loops only (2 loops left on hook), *yo again, hook into next stitch, yo, pull through to front, yo, pull hook through 2 loops only *(3 loops left on hook), yo, pull hook through all remaining loops. Repeat process from * to * again holding additional loops on hook until all decreases worked - once more for dc3tog (4 loops), 3 times more for dc5tog (6 loops), 4 times more for dc6tog (7 loops).

Ok - that's it for your ripple hat pattern. Hope you enjoyed it. I'll bet it took you no time at all. Whip up a few as last minute gifts.

Try changing colors after each set of 2 rounds for a rainbow effect.Use pastels or brights, or just your favorite solid color.

This ripple hat pattern could also look great in a variegated or self-striping yarn.

Ripple hat and scarf A 'fuzzy' or 'brushed' yarn would fill in the holes more if you prefer a more solid look. You could also try a chenille for a change.

Think of all the possibilities! The sky's the limit - try out these fun suggestions for this ripple hat pattern and have a whole wardrobe of these cute hats.

There's a ripple scarf pattern coming soon - watch out for that and make up a matching set.
